Practice Circle: The Meaning of Mary Magdalene

A Practice Circle is a closed group that meets via Zoom once a week for eight consecutive weeks. Each weekly meeting is facilitated and goes for an hour and a half. In practice circles we engage in contemplative practice together, cultivating harmony of being by attuning to and aligning with the Presence of Spirit and ‘the sound of the genuine’ within us and between us.

When: Sep 22 - Nov 10, 2023
Where: Online via Zoom
Facilitator: Philippa Ranby
Cost: Koha

Focusing text: The Meaning of Mary Magdalene

The Meaning of Mary Magdalene is a book written by Cynthia Bourgeault and published in 2010. It illuminates Mary Magdalene's role as the apostole who best catches the meaning of Jesus's teachings and is able to live them; a spiritual master in her own right. Bourgeault shows that the luminous quality of exchange between Mary Magdalene and Jesus reveals the path of conscious love that is the way of transformation for us all.

In this Practice Circle, we'll give particular attention to what is implied by conscious love using Cynthia's book as our guide.

Each meeting will begin with a period of Centering Prayer or silent meditation (whichever is your practice) and will be followed by our contemplative engagement with the text.  Participants will receive a Zoom invitation that will be their link to the eight Practice Circle meetings, and will be encouraged to join each meeting at 8:25am for an 8:30am start.
