Practice Circle: The Poetry of Presence

A Practice Circle is a closed group that meets via Zoom once a week for eight consecutive weeks. Each weekly meeting is facilitated and goes for an hour and a half. In practice circles we engage in contemplative practice together, cultivating harmony of being by attuning to and aligning with the Presence of Spirit and ‘the sound of the genuine’ within us and between us.

When: Feb 2 – Mar 22, 2024
Where: Online via Zoom
Facilitator: Philippa Ranby
Cost: Koha (Koha guide: $5 - $10 per meeting)

Focusing texts: Poetry by Rumi, Hafiz, Mary Oliver, David Whyte, Jane Hirshfield and others.

Rumi scholar Fatemah Keshavarz has described Rumi’s poetry as an encounter, as a coming face-to-face with the sacred in such a way that it’s impossible to stay on the margins – you have to join in.

In this practice circle, we’ll be allowing ourselves to be drawn into such encounters with the Living Presence of the sacred through the poetry of various accomplished poets. We’ll be “joining in,” participating in the wisdom of their words and the Silence from which they have come through our shared contemplation.

Participants will receive a Zoom invitation that will be their link to the eight Practice Circle meetings and will be encouraged to join each meeting at 7:55am for an 8:00am start.
