Practice Circle: 8 Sufi Ways of the Heart

A Practice Circle is a closed group that meets via Zoom once a week for eight consecutive weeks. Each weekly meeting is facilitated and goes for an hour and a half. In practice circles we engage in contemplative practice together, cultivating harmony of being by attuning to and aligning with the Presence of Spirit and ‘the sound of the genuine’ within us and between us.

When: May 3 – Jun 21, 2024
Where: Online via Zoom
Facilitator: Philippa Ranby
Cost: Koha (Koha guide: $5 - $10 per meeting)

Focusing texts:  Divine Names & The Sufi Book of Life

Our two texts, Divine Names, by Rosina-Fawzia Al-Rawi and The Sufi Book of Life, by Neil Douglas-Klotz, are both illuminations of the 99 healing names of the One Love. Douglas-Klotz also refers to these names as ‘pathways of the heart’. Each name, each pathway is a beautiful field of wisdom and a rich source of contemplation helping us see with ‘the eye of the heart.’

In this practice circle, we’ll contemplate one name or pathway each week, engaging in a contemplative reading of the name followed by a heart-centred meditation. We’ll also share our impressions with each other.

You don’t need a copy of either book to participate in this Practice Circle. The readings for each week will be made available to participants.

Participants will receive a Zoom invitation that will be their link to the eight Practice Circle meetings and will be encouraged to join each meeting at 7:55am for an 8:00am start.
